The Galilee Community Development Corporation (GCDC) is a 501(c)(3), tax-exempt, non-profit organization, based in Suitland, Maryland.  The Corporation’s mission is to provide programs and services for the residents in Suitland and surrounding communities of Hillcrest Heights, Coral Hills, Marlow Heights, Temple Hills, Forestville, District Heights, and the Washington Metropolitan area as need dictates. We strive to improve the individual resident's overall quality of life, enhance local economic development opportunities, promote the development and re-development of real estate, and cultivate productive communities.

 

This will be achieved by seeking venues for the provision of affordable housing, enhancement programs that support educational attainment, entrepreneurship, and business development, and staying in tune with the community and economic revitalization, for the economically and socially disadvantaged families in our service area.  Programs will provide education and support for youth, their parents, and senior citizens.

The GCDC is lead by a Board of Directors. Our Chairman is Dr. Lloyd T. McGriff. Our Point of Contact with Galilee Baptist Church is Vice-Chairperson, George Cooper.  The current Executive Director, Louise Lyles, has been at the helm since July of 2014.

 

Our programs are designed, managed, and implemented by Program Managers. They are supported by a dedicated staff of community persons. In addition to programs, we also host numerous fundraising events such as an Applebees Pancake Breakfast, a Bid Whist Tournament, Fall Flea Market, and Men Cooking for Charity, in order finance programs and continue our mission.
